Great Moments – Like Now

Reading time: 36 seconds

Watch the companion video here.

The movie Miracle tells the story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team, as the team made its way to winning the gold medal in the Lake Placid, NY games.  It is one of those events that is locked in memory for any American able to watch that semi-final game between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Herb Brooks was the coach of that hockey team and he spoke to the players in the locker room immediately prior to the first period of the game.  He said, “Great moments are borne from great opportunity.  And that’s what you have here tonight, boys.”  Of course, he was right about that – great moments really are borne from great opportunity.  And that’s what you have right now.  Yes, you.

Yesterday is never coming back and there is a new normal that is forming, even as no one knows what it will look like.  This situation is akin to the shift from the agrarian age to the industrial age, when no one know what the new age would look like.  But some grabbed that great opportunity and forged the new age.  And right now you have a once in a century opportunity to create the new normal of the future.

It’s in your hands and the time to act is now to be the greatest leader you can be and create a great tomorrow.
