So, How Was The Meeting?

Yeah, you blew them away with your absolutely brilliant presentation of the new strategy. You had the facts at your fingertips, your examples and metaphors fit perfectly and your description of success could inspire goose bumps. And compelling? You were so good that even comatose people would stand and follow you up the hill.

Except it just didn’t happen that way for them.

Too frequently leaders present their killer strategy and forget that nobody in the room is there primarily to serve the leader’s interests, so they tune out. Eyes glaze over and PDA’s become active under the edge of the table.

Boss, here’s the deal: engaging your employees is about them and their needs. Your success depends upon the extent to which you focus on that.
